Ceremonies in Newport (RI) in September around Lafayette
On September 11 and 12, the Newport Historical Society is organizing a special weekend around the presence of Lafayette and the French during the summer of 1780, with costumes in vintage buildings.

A ceremony will be organized on September 10 at 2 p.m. in the Trinity Churchyard church in Newport (Rhode Island) to honor the memory of two Lafayette teammates on her L’Hermione ship:
– Le Major Pierre du Rousseau, Chevalier de Fayolle (Aide de Camp de Lafayette).
– Second Lieutenant Augustin Benjamin Lavilmarais.
At the invitation of the French memory, under the auspices of the National Park Service Washington-Rochambeau Revolutionary Route Nationale Historic Trail (Waro).
The ceremony will take place in the presence of many personalities, including the French consul in Boston, Arnaud Mentré.
