These Celebrities Pinned For Wearing Fur
The People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals, also known as PETA, is a non-profit animal rights organization based in North America. Members and militant supporters of this organization are renowned for their non-conformist methods employed to decry the wearing of fur.
PETA is known for being outspoken. Especially against famous people, who do nothing to improve animal rights. Indeed, some celebrities wear fur, reptile skins, feathers and other by-products from animal exploitation. PETA is known to be the instigator of the famous advertising campaign with the slogan; “I'd rather be naked than wear fur,” printed on posters of female celebrities posing in the simplest of devices.
Activists of the organization are very virulent. One of their favorite tactics to dissuade stars from wearing real fur is to simply throw a can of red paint at their head, eggs or even flour.
A priori, no one is in favor of the torture of animals. But in its zeal to protect all creatures, and because of its extreme attitude, PETA tends to stir controversy.
PETA, an NGO that opposes fur-loving stars
The largest organization in the world, with more than 3 million members, is determined to fight all forms of cruelty inflicted on animals. And for that, she is ruthless. PETA activists have been outspoken in their stance against celebrities who wear fur or have an attitude related in any way to animal cruelty.
Many celebrities, known for wearing real and luxurious fur, use this attire to show off their success. The luxury coats, highly prized by the stars, are still today, too often a symbol of social status. A status that they establish through the clothes they wear. Unfortunately for animals, fur is still an accessory associated with being rich and famous. Which is sad and damaging, because it's possible for any of these super-rich stars to opt for faux fur. In the equally beautiful, glamorous and chic range, we always have the choice to preserve an innocent animal.
Here is a selection of celebrities who have found themselves in the crosshairs of PETA.
